BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (March 12, 2020) – Gaggle announced that districts using the full Gaggle Safety Management solution will receive web filter safety integration as well as Gaggle’s SpeakUp for Safety tipline at no additional cost, starting July 1. Prior to this announcement, each of these services cost an additional $2 per student. This expansion of services is part of Gaggle’s ongoing mission to support schools and districts by providing the best student safety solution available.

Gaggle works with web filtering platforms to create an integrated digital safety solution that helps districts protect students both on and off campus. As a result, our Gaggle Safety Management solution works with most web filters, including ContentKeeper, iBoss, Palo Alto Networks, LineWize, and others.

Gaggle’s first partner was ContentKeeper Technologies. “Student safety is essential, and a cross-platform solution is the right way to approach cybersecurity,” said ContentKeeper Director of Sales David Lemmon. “To be proactive, school districts must have a solution that can detect threats sourced from all device platforms and web browsers. The combination of a web filter, such as ContentKeeper, and the Gaggle safety solution provides a district with the most powerful and failsafe student safety available.”

Systems Engineer Lara Humphries at Ascension Public Schools in Louisiana has seen firsthand how the Gaggle-ContentKeeper partnership has helped individuals in her district. One instance involved a student who was diagnosed with a mental health issue. After going through treatment, his psychologist and parents thought it was time to take him off his medicine. “Within a few weeks of that happening, he started to look for self-harm information through some internet searches, and we got the phone call from Gaggle,” said Humphries. The technology department alerted the school and they were able to investigate, contacting the parents and counselor so that the student received the extra intervention he needed before being completely removed from his medicine.

The SpeakUp for Safety tipline creates an environment where students have an easy and confidential way to voice concerns without feeling as though they will get themselves or their peers in trouble. Unlike statewide tip systems, which go directly to law enforcement, information sent to our SpeakUp safety tipline is immediately reviewed and easily verified, allowing school administrators to decide how to best take action with their students.

“SpeakUp for Safety helps Milford Public Schools be proactive keeping our schools and students safe. The 24/7 human touch that Gaggle provides differentiates its safety tipline from other solutions,” said Kevin McIntyre, Ed.D., the superintendent of Milford Public Schools in Massachusetts.

Gaggle is the pioneer in helping school districts manage student safety on school-provided collaboration platforms. By combining technology and trained safety experts, Gaggle provides real-time analysis of students’ email accounts and the content they are creating on their school’s digital tools; in particular, Google G Suite for Education and Microsoft Office 365.

“Gaggle continues to innovate and provide new ways to help keep students safe,” said Gaggle founder and CEO Jeff Patterson. “By offering our partners a wider student safety net, we can provide school districts with greater support to proactively identify those who are struggling.”
