Partnership to Improve Online Safety for K-12 Students Throughout State
ALBANY, NY/BLOOMINGTON, IL (August 13, 2019) – The New York State Parent Teacher Association (NYS PTA) today announced a partnership with Gaggle, the leader in helping K-12 districts manage student safety on school-provided technology, as a part of NYS PTA’s initiative, Every Child Their Safety.
Given the rise of instances of child suicide and early diagnosis of child mental health disorders, the goal of the collaboration is meant to continue to improve safety and support of children across New York.
For the past twenty years, Gaggle has helped districts across the country protect students, avoid tragedies, and save lives by monitoring and responding to safety issues and threats. The Gaggle safety solution uses a robust combination of both artificial intelligence and trained safety experts to provide real-time analysis and review of students’ use of online collaboration platforms, such as Google’s G Suite for Education, Microsoft Office 365, and Canvas.
“At Gaggle, we’re focused on preventing tragedies by proactively identifying and supporting students who are personally struggling, through real-time content analysis of school-issued devices,” said Jeff Patterson, CEO of Gaggle. “Our partnership with NYS PTA will help schools in New York create safe learning environments that positively impact students.”
“We are so pleased to work with the team at Gaggle, who is committed to helping districts ensure the safety and social emotional support of our children,” offered NYS PTA Executive Director Kyle Belokopitsky. “We fully believe in Gaggle’s mission to provide a safe and secure online environment for our students.”
As a part of the Every Child Their Safety initiative, NYS PTA and Gaggle will collaborate on developing educational materials for schools and children on online safety, and work together on NYS PTA’s new mental health initiative.
