Building on an April 2020 launch of monitoring Microsoft Teams, Gaggle recently expanded its Gaggle Safety Management for Teams coverage to include attachments and images. This added functionality increases the protection of students in Gaggle districts utilizing Microsoft Teams, which allows teachers, students, and coaches to chat, meet, call, or collaborate with ease.

“Being able to monitor attachments and images for Microsoft Teams provides an additional level of student safety for our customers using the Microsoft Education suite,” said Tricia Sharpton, Gaggle’s director of product management. “It’s part of our efforts to continuously improve the services we provide to enhance the safety and well-being of students, and it comes at a pivotal time of increased distance learning and digital interaction among students.”

During the final months of the 2019–20 school year, Gaggle recorded a significant uptick in the use of both the Microsoft Teams and Google Hangouts chat platforms. The 288% increase in chats was far and away the largest increase across all forms of digital communication. The spike in chat conversations also sparked a dramatic increase in alerts for questionable content and behaviors like cyberbullying, self-harm, and abuse. Read more in a recent Gaggle report.
